A beautiful morning to tidy up the place!

We had a bumper haul from the canal bank this morning – but it was a nice time to be out.

Hello all,
After a bumper crop along the canal in mid-June and a well-deserved picnic on the path (see above dog not included), we turn our attention to the village. We will be meeting at 7.30 at the Workman’s Club on Emmet Road.

If you can at all spare an hour or even 45 minutes we would greatly appreciate it. It’s not and never will be a replacement for individual responsibility or municipal environmental maintenance. It’s just a gesture to show that as a community we care about a great historic, interesting and in places scenic area which has a strong neighbourly ethos.
If you are coming along please try and be there by 7.30 if at all possible as we lock away the gear while we are out cleaning and don’t have the manpower to mind it.
We are also looking for your suggestions about what kind of improvements we can undertake around Inchicore or litter blackspots that could be tackled. As a group we are limited by manpower (and the law :))but there might be small improvements that can make a big difference.
As ever if you spot fly-tipping, dumping, please take a photo and let us know or use the links/phone numbers below
Finally Rialto Environmental Group are doing a canal cleanup from Herberton Bridge down to Suir Road also on Wednesday at 7.30. If that suits you better we won’t take offence!
Regards,
Colm

End of March Clean up – Saturday 29th March, Meeting at Workman’s Club, Emmet Road 10am

IMAG2626

Tools of the trade!

Hello all,

Our next clean up will be on March 29th at 10am, meeting at the Workman’s Club on Emmet Road.
As usual we supply pickers, bags and gloves but if you have your own gloves bring them along.

We’ll be doing a clean up but also refreshing some of our flower beds that we planted last year.

In case you are ever wondering whether any of this has an effect, hopefully the following news will help:

Dublin City Council informed us earlier this month that they are allocating an extra 10,000 euro from their general funding pool to spend on cleaning up Inchicore. The decision to allocate these funds is a direct result of the efforts of Inchicore Environmental Group and will be spent over the coming months on chewing gum removal, power washing the footpaths etc. in the main village area.

Great news for Inchicore

good-news

On March 11th, the Inchicore Environmental Group got the great news from City Council that they have allocated an additional €10,000 from their general funding pool to spend on cleaning up Inchicore. The decision to allocate these funds is a direct result of the efforts of Inchicore Environmental Group and will be spent over the coming months on chewing gum removal, power washing the footpaths etc. in the main village area.

It is great to get this recognition for our regular effort and serves as further inspiration to keep going, come rain or shine!
Thanks so much for your continued support both the people who turn up for the cleanups and those who offer encouragement and advice.
See you all at the next clean-up on 29 March!
